

Dorothy Mae Freeman, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 19, 2016, at the Florence Park Care Center, Florence, KY. She was born October 6, 1931 in Union county, MS to parents Walter F. Clayton and Fannie Wilder Clayton.
Dorothy married Curtis Kelby Freeman on July 2, 1955. They made their home in Endville community where they were members of Endville Baptist Church. She worked over 20 years as a seamstress at the shirt factory in Sherman and had 2 daughters. Later she moved to Tupelo, joined Harrisburg Baptist Church and was a beloved babysitter for several families until she retired.
In 2008 Dorothy moved to Florence, KY where she was a member of Florence Baptist Church. Dorothy took up the hobby of knitting hats, hundreds of which she donated over the years through Hope Ministries of Florence Baptist for needy children. She also knitted countless baby hats and donated them to Care Net, a crisis pregnancy center. Many of her friends and family were also recipients of her handmade hats.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Freeman Hunter (Bill) of Florence, KY and Melissa Freeman Stanford (Mike) of Mooreville; her sister Freddie Clayton Kolb of New Harmony, MS; grandchildren Beth Hunter Bauer, David Hunter, Michael Stanford, Melanie Stanford, and Adam Stanford. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Mattie Lee Clayton Littlejohn and one grandson Andrew Stanford.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23, 2016, from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. with service immediately following at Browning Funeral Home of Pontotoc. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Endville cemetery.
