

Joe Anthony Martin, age 54, died Friday, August 5, 2016 at his residence. He was born February 9, 1962 to John Travis Martin and Betty Jean Stacy Martin. He was a member of Cooke Memorial Baptist Church. Joe graduated from South Pontotoc High School in 1980 and attended the University of MS. He owned Joe’s Southern Barbecue and a snow cone shop in Pontotoc. He enjoyed working with computers, shooting and collecting guns, shopping at pawn shops, eating and talking to his friends and family.
Services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Rev. Don Smith and Rev. Lane Williamson officiating, burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Carolyn Duke Martin, a sister, Patricia George of Pontotoc, MS, two nephews, Brad Bailey and Josh George, a host of aunts, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother: Kenneth Martin.
Pallbearers will be: Josh George, Brad Bailey, Jimmy Williamson, Daniel Stegall, Steve Henderson, Shawn Fuqua, Brad Dobbs and Tim Berry.
Visitation will be Saturday from 5 to 8 PM and Sunday from 1 to 2 PM at the funeral home.
