Katherine Long

Katherine Mlean Long, age 84, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was member of McGregor’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. She had worked at Kuhn’s, Stubbs, the Pontotoc Inn, the Mason Jar and was the Manager at Southern Hills Motel. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, cooking for others and making cakes to give away at Christmas.

Services will be at 11 AM Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Rev. Steve Nichols and Rev. Terry Paul Graham officiating; burial will follow in the Long Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her sisters: Kathleen Ray (Curtis) of West Point, MS, Evelyn Armstrong and Margaret Dunlap both of Lufkin, TX; one brother: James Powell Sanders (Carole) of Boden, AR; daughter-in-law: Denise Long Gillespie; a granddaughter: Nikki Fletcher and a great granddaughter: Ashley Nicole Fletcher, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Clyde “C.B.” Sanders and Lucille Milton Sanders; her husband: John Woodson Long and a son: Trent Long.

Pallbearers will be: Adam Ray, Phillip Roye, Noel Roye, Dave Roye, Ron Britt and Frank Stubblefield. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Thomas Scott, Bobbie Roye, Sue Massey and Helen Stubblefield.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 am Saturday at the funeral home.
