

Libby Russell “Mama Libby” Savely, age 94, died Monday, November 24, 2014 at Pontotoc Nursing Home in Pontotoc. She was born February 2, 1920 in Pontotoc County, MS to William Wallace Russell and Mattie May Brown Russell. She married John Abbott Savely and together they raised ten children. She was a member of Ingomar Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for more than 40 years. She enjoyed traveling, collecting thimbles, cards and stamps.
Survivors include her children: Martha Ann Mayo and husband Leon Mayo of Sherman, MS, Dorothy Hughes of Coffeeville, MS, Nancy Floyd and husband Paul B. Floyd of Ingomar, Beth Berryhill of Pontotoc, MS, Paul Savely and wife Connie Savely of Pontotoc, MS, Jack Savely and wife Sandra Savely of Pontotoc, MS and Richard Savely of Ingomar, MS; fifteen grandchildren: Steve Mayo and wife Cathy Mayo of Sherman, MS, Don Mayo and wife Karen Mayo of New Albany, MS, Linda Ann Cannon of Coffeeville, MS, Tommy Jones and wife Sandy Jones of Hernando, MS, Timmy Jones and wife Kim Jones of Hernando, MS, Kevin Floyd of Florence, AL, Michael Floyd and wife Rhonda Floyd of Corinth, MS, Jenny Savely of Pensacola, FL, Maggie Savely of Memphis, TN, Trisha Brink of Horn Lake, MS, John Caldwell of Southaven, MS, Jerry Caldwell and wife Linda Caldwell of Coffeeville, MS, Timothy Savely and wife Nicole Savely of Colorado Springs, CO, Lori Meggs and husband Jimmy Meggs of Arlington, TN and Lisa Reeves and husband Theo Reeves of Hernando, MS; twenty-three great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, and two daughters: Doris Jewel Caldwell and Marie Jones; one son: John David Savely; three sisters: Nora Dillard, Mary Clayton and Annie Jay Cannon and five brothers: Herman Russell, Charlie Russell, John Olen Russell, Theron Russell and Marvin Russell.
