Murl Bailey, 89, died on Tuesday March 12, 2024 at his residence. He was born on April 22, 1934 to Hubert and Flora Clayton Bailey. Murl was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church for 55 years. He was a long time farmer in the Shady Grove Community. Murl enjoyed fishing and playing dominoes.
Services will be at 11:00 am, Friday March 15, 2024 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Reverend David Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Shady Grove cemetery. Browning funeral home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the Bailey family.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carolyn Hearn Bailey; daughter Renee Bailey McCay (Richard); daughter in law Tracey Roberts; sister Norma Jean Swords; grandchildren Scott McCay; Tyler McCay (Alix); Quay Roberts; and Quinton Roberts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Mickey Bailey; Granddaughter April McCay Sneed; Great Granddaughter Maddie McCay; and brother, Melvin Bailey.
Pallbearers will be Scott McCay, Tyler McCay, Quay Roberts, Quinton Roberts, Glen Howe, and Jimmy Lessel.
Visitation will be Thursday 5-8 pm and Friday 10-11 am all at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
