Wesley “Wes” Alden Flowers, age 82, born on November 26, 1943, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Magnolia at Oxford Commons, Oxford MS. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Donna Elaine Flowers (née McDonough); daughters Laura Flowers Benson (David) and Tammy Lee Phillips (Michael); grandchildren Lillian Mackenzie Benson, Elliott Wesley Benson, Samantha Ann Phillips, and Andrew Micheal Phillips; and his brother Dale Maurice Flowers (Lori), and his sister-in-law, Candy Flowers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Maurice Flowers and Audrey Alma (née Wagner) Hoffman, and by his brother Alan Bruce Flowers.
He served in the United States Coast Guard as a radio operator and once helped relocate a ship through the Panama Canal. After his service, he spent 47 years working in the family flower shop, Don Flowers Florist in Randallstown, MD. He ran the office and coordinated deliveries across the state, and his quiet, sincere manner set the tone for a pleasant workplace. He was an avid ten-pin bowler and he and Donna bowled weekly in a league for over 40 years. He also enjoyed jogging and later, walking for exercise.
In retirement, he and Donna settled in Punta Gorda, Florida. He also loved family trips to Dewey Beach, Delaware; Ocean City, Maryland; Massanutten, Virginia; and Aruba. In the last seven months, he and Donna made their home in Oxford, Mississippi, close to Tammy and her family.
He will be missed for his steady presence, calming spirit and gentle easy-going manner, and the care he showed to the people around him.
The family will celebrate the life of Wesley Flowers at a later date.
Browning Funeral Home is honored to assist the Flowers family with the arrangements.
