Mr. Coleman attended Delta State University and Copiah-Lincoln Community College, and played football at both schools. He was named an All American player at Delta State and is being inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame this year at Copiah-Lincoln. He was a retired Sales and Marketing professional and also specialized in obedience training for police dogs, receiving numerous awards for his work.
He was was preceded in death by parents James Henry William Coleman and Pertie Robbins Coleman; brothers, Herman Coleman, Hilbon Coleman, Glenn Coleman, Leroy Coleman, Homer, Allen and Evan Coleman; sisters Helen Coleman Moore and Rubie Coleman Nappier.
Survivors include his daughter, Kristy McKnight, son-in-law Chad McKnight and two grandchildren, Stella and Fielding McKnight. He is also survived by sister Lottie Jean "Jeanie" Coleman Gaspard and husband, Al of Pontotoc, MS and and brother Travis Coleman.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15 at 10am at 1300 Sharon Road, Sharon, MS.
