Mr. Smith was a freight truck driver and attended Burgetown Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He is preceded in death by his father, James H. Smith, Jr.; grandparents, and extended family.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Dell Perrette Smith; one son, Chet Smith, Jr.; one daughter, Beth Matherne; two brothers, Clint Smith and Phillip Smith, all of Poplarville, MS; one sister, Marita Ann Hendrick of Tuepelo, MS; seven grandchildren, and host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, September 28, 2013 at White Funeral Home, Poplarville with interment in Derby Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Friday at the funeral home.
