

As the only son left at home, Kenneth always helped his parents with the farm. Besides helping his Daddy, his first job was with Magee Tractor Company in Monticello. Thenas a mechanic at Frank Smith Garage in Monticello while in high school.He was a 1960 graduate of Monticello High School. He played football and was very active in the Future Farmers of America (FFA). During his life he was employed by Ready Garage, Jolly Ford Company, then self-employed for many years. Many can attest that Kenneth knew nothing but work.
He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church then Monticello Baptist Church. Kenneth used his generous spirit and talents to help the lives of many through the years. His spiritual gift of service was evident to all who knew him. Kenneth was a kind, sweet, good person who would not hurt anyone. So much respect and love for him has been expressed.
After he and his wife, Shirley, moved to Birmingham, Alabama, in 2008, to be with their daughter, Melissa, and Granddaughter, Victoria, Kenneth shared his gifts and talents atRiverchaseUnited Methodist Church as a Sunday greeter, member of the Joy Sunday school class and loved maintaining the church vans and buses. His shining light will be missed.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Era Elliott Rogers and John R. Rogers; his wife of 48 years, Shirley Ann Leggett Rogers; sister Virginia Lea Townsend; brotherToxieHall Rogers; brother Jewel Langston Rogers; sister Gloria Lea Rogers and brother Clay Elliott Rogers.
He is survived in death by his daughter, Melissa Ann Rogers Bentley; his Granddaughter, Victoria Ann Bentley; sister HyacinthVerleanChristman;sisterAlicia Reynolds and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial service will be Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church, 73 Bethel Road, Monticello,Mississippi.The familywill receive friends at 2:00 PMto 3:00 PM on the day of the service. Bro. Richard Green and Bro. Jimmy Harveywill be officiating.
