

Olive Kinsler Gorman, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and resident of Pearl River County, Mississippi since 1985, was called home on her birthday, April 17, 2026, at the age of 98. Olive was born on April 17, 1928, baptized, confirmed and married in Redeemer Lutheran Church, New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a member of the choir and volunteered as part-time secretary to the Pastor for several years. In 1954 she was employed by ESSO Standard Oil Co. and retired in 1979.
On New Year's Eve, 1963, Olive met the love of her life, Edmund and they were married in June, 1965. They lived in Chalmette, Louisiana. In 1985, they moved to Poplarville, Mississippi. In 2000, she became a volunteer for Lutheran Braille Workers at First United Methodist Church, Poplarville, Mississippi. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Picayune, Mississippi.
Olive had many interests: travel, painting, ceramics, needle work, gardening and collection Native American pottery. She was an avid reader. In later years, she enjoyed listening to recordings of the King James Bible.
In Olive's "Peace of Mind Planner" under the section, "Last Words", she wrote, "wish I could think of something brilliant, profound or witty, but all I can think of is 'goodbye'" which, I believe is a contraction of God be with you.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Edmund T. Gorman, III.; parents, William J. and Mattie T. Kinsler; sister, Alice K. Gamble (Horace); three nephews, Sean Michael Gamble, David Gamble and John Mark Stafford and her dearest friend, Carolyn Deupree.
Left to forever cherish her memory are four nephews, Michael A. Gamble (Alison); Scott K. Gamble, Colton S. Gamble and Joshua G. Stafford (Madison); two nieces, Diane G. Stafford and Rachel S. Day (Travis); cousins and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend Olive's visitation on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at White Funeral Home, 315 Hwy 11 South, Poplarville, Mississippi, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Her funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow in Gamble Cemetery, 55 Cecil Davis Road, Lumberton, Mississippi.
