Ralph was born on August 16, 1947 in Alexandria, Louisiana to the late Ralph William Miller, Jr. and Melba Dean Lanier Gresham.
Ralph was a 1965 graduate of Tioga High School in Tioga, Louisiana. He was a dual graduate from Louisiana State University where he also retired from the Property Management Department as a Fleet Manager. He served in the United States Navy from October 1966 to October 1970 aboard the USS Shangri-La. Ralph was an amateur HAM Radio Operator known by his call sign, KC5ODF, serving on the USS Kidd when it was in Baton Rouge and was instrumental in the operation of HAM Radio use and assistance during the Hurricane Katrina disaster. He also worked for a period of time as a Crop Duster Pilot in Monroe, Louisiana. Ralph had a brilliant mind and enjoyed many diverse things such as civil service, music, teaching, and studying history and literature.
Family members include two brothers, Gary Ross Miller of Clarksville, Arkansas, Greg Miller (Vickie) of North Little Rock, Arkansas; one sister, Charlotte Harris (late William Harris) of Poplarville, Mississippi; two daughters, Susan Miller of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and the late Amy Miller.
Services will be held at White Funeral Home (315 Highway 11 South, Poplarville, MS, 39470) on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at 3:00 pm. Brother Larry Head will officiate the service. Burial with military honors will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
