Born in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Married September 23, 1943 to Dirk Bout. Predeceased by her parents
Maria and Hendrik Roodbol, her husband Dirk Bout and eleven siblings.
She is survived by: sister Johanna Zwemmer (Netherlands), sister-in-law Co Roodbol and brother-in-law Ton Kok of the Netherlands, daughter Marta Williamson (Tom), grandson Travers Williamson (Sacha), great grandson Mateo and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and the Netherlands.
Alida, Dick and Marta immigrated to Canada in 1951 to settle in Port Alberni. She worked in grocery stores most of her working life and loved it, including seventeen years in Woodwards. She was a gifted crafts woman and knitted and crocheted from the age of ten. Later in life she discovered she loved fishing and she and Dick spent many happy days in the “Libra” moored at Beachcomber.
Alida volunteered for twenty years with the West Coast General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Her last years were spent happily at Heritage Place where she made many friends and received excellent care.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31st, 2014 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Lawn Bowling Club 4255 Wallace Street, Port Alberni.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of the West Coast General Hospital
