Audrey Victoria Maedel Paterson

Predeceased by her husband John, sisters Ruth McKenzie, Joyce Rigets and Alice McLean, she is survived by her children Sandi Paterson (Bruce Proudfoot) and Richard Paterson (Carla); grandchildren: Megan Reddick (Desmond) and Ian Paterson (Jennifer); step grandchildren: Bruce Proudfoot (Sherry), Michelle Pope, Jared Proudfoot (Gail) and Brittany Proudfoot; great gradchildren: Cade and Davin and step great grandchildren: Matthew, Keenan, Carter, Montana, Kaela, Nicole, Hunter, Hailey and Dion. She is also survived by her brothers Neil Maedel (Gloria), Myron Maedel (Helen), Verne Maedel (Marg) and Jerry Maedel (Jannette) and her sister Dianne Ruttan (John) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Audrey was always very civic minded and generously volunteered her time. She was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion and served in a number of capacities over the years. As a resident of Cherry Creek, Audrey has been Treasurer of the Recreation Commision, a member of the Ladies Catering Committee, a member of the Cherry Creek Ladies Auxiliary to the Fire Dept., a coach of a junior girl’s softball team and an umpire for bothe girls and boys softball games. As a Diabetic in her forties, she and Marvin Lockwood organized the Diabetic Association in the Alberni Valley. In her spare time Audrey knit baby outfits to donate to the Ladies Hospital Gift Store.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #293, 4680 Victoria Quay from 2:00 on Sunday, March 3, 2013. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations in Audrey’s memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 293, 4680 Victoria Quay, Port Alberni, V9Y 6G5.
