Charlotte Audrey French

Charlotte was born in LaGlace Alberta to Andrew and Magna Rolfstad and grew up on the family farm. Mom often spoke of happy times spent there with family and friends in a close knit community. When Mom was a teen the family sold the farm and relocated to Kelowna and then to Prince George, B.C. where she met the love of her life, Doran French.

They were married in Prince George in 1952 and welcomed two daughters over the next few years; first Dorella and then Cheryl. Work prospects took the family to Terrace where they welcomed two more children, Randy and Brenda. Dad passed in 1998 and Mom remained living in their Terrace home until 2019. She then moved into long term care in Port Alberni where she was close to family.

Charlotte was a kind and gentle woman, who loved her family above all. She enjoyed visits from family and friends, knitting, crocheting and growing a variety of plants. She loved animals and being out in nature. She was strong in her faith and instilled that faith in her family with grace and patience. She enjoyed participating in church and the many friendships made there. Mom loved music and played piano and guitar. She would often break into a song that was fitting to the moment. She was a friend and role model to all her family and all who were blessed in knowing her. She always had time for a board game, a cup of coffee, a good laugh and made the best Ginger Sparkler cookies you’ve ever tasted. She especially enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was delighted to provide a caring and kind presence to any child who came to visit.

Charlotte is survived by her three daughters and their families:  

Dorella Topley; Ryan(Dani; Madison & Mason), Jody(Lily; Caidence, Gabe, Ruby), Erin(Steve; Austin),

Cheryl Houston(Harry Johnston), Sonja, Karin(Mike; Kassidy & Everett), Jared, Stephen.

Brenda Quinn: Tiryn, Sienna and Pepper, Joel(Sheena; Aiden, Lyric, Nash, Nylie, Sawyer) Matthew(Amanda; Noah & Myla), Bethany(James; Jaxon & Jesse),

brother in law Elroy French, sister in law Shirleyn Pilon(Pat), numerous nieces and nephews and her special friend Edna Ganley.

Charlotte was predeceased by parents Andrew and Magna Rolfstad, brothers Peter, Elmer and Norman, husband Doran, father and mother in law Joseph and Dorothy French, son Randy, sons in law Lorne and Brian, grandson Dylan, brother in law Bruce and sister in law Pat. A family gathering will be held in Terrace at a later date.
