Born in Prince George, Cheryl spent her early years in Quesnel before moving to Calgary and Edmonton. She later returned to Calgary and eventually made homes in Lumby and Port Alberni.
Cheryl graduated from the University of Alberta and devoted her professional life to education, enjoying a long and meaningful career as an elementary and preschool teacher. She was passionate about nurturing young minds and made a lasting impact on countless children and families.
A loving and devoted mother, Cheryl was deeply committed to her family and her community. She was especially proud of her role as a foster parent to 94 children, opening her heart and home to those who needed care and stability. Cheryl treasured her many friendships, found joy in baking, delighted in making crafts with her grandchildren, dedicated time to volunteering, and appreciated sharing a good cup of tea with loved ones.
Cheryl was predeceased by her father, Robert (Bob), her brother Darryl, and her mother, May. She is lovingly remembered by her sister Judy (Mike); her husband of 51 years, Dalton; her children Steven, Elizabeth, and Richard (Jolienne); and her cherished grandchildren, Parker, Arabella, and Connor.
A viewing will be held on March 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel of Memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Cheryl’s memory may be made to North Okanagan Youth & Family Services or the Vernon Starfish Pack Program.
