It is with great sadness that we announce the very sudden passing of our beloved Colleen. Colleen was predeceased by her mother Marie Black, father “Blackie” Black, brother Kerry and son Jason. She will be sadly missed by her husband Raymond, son David (Cary), grandsons: Brendyn, Ryan, Clayton, Dawson and Dylan, sister Tracy (Jack), mother-in-law Gay as well as her nephew and numerous nieces.
Colleen was born in Vancouver and raised in New Westminster. She married Ray in 1971 and together they began their lives in Port Alberni. They welcomed Jason to the world in 1973 and David in 1975. Colleen enjoyed being at home with her young boys and as they grew she expanded her caring to include seniors. She became a care aid and worked many years at Fir Park/ Echo Village.
Colleen had many hobbies and talents. She loved to sew, ski and golf. Her love of travel took her to the places she most wanted to see – Egypt, Africa, Australia, Vietnam, Mexico and Hawaii. She shared her love of dragon boating with “The Ladies of the Lake” and “The Wave Riders”. This extended family gave her strength and courage forged over many years of friendship and camaraderie. Colleen enjoyed life from the fullest to the simplest pleasures of a morning walk and chat with her coffee buddies at Victoria Quay. A deep void will be felt by Colleen’s family, her extended family and her many friends.
Viewing will be held from 6:30pm till 7:30pm on Friday, September 14 at Chapel of Memories, 4005-6th Avenue.
