Dan lived his life to the fullest and with passion, having lived in the Caribbean, Ireland, Dawson City Yukon, and the past seven years on Vancouver Island. He fully participated a wide range of outdoor activities, including down-hill and back-county skiing, snowboarding, surfing, hunting, fishing, canoeing, spearfishing, rock climbing, and especially mountain biking.
He had many large circles of friends across the country and around the world. He valued family and friends highly, and went to great lengths to stay in touch with many people. In his youth, Dan participated in the Scouting movement, softball, played several musical instruments, fished lobsters and grew mussels with his father, and learned cooking skills from his mother. He was a loving brother and brother-in-law and an exciting role-model-uncle for Lucas. He will be greatly missed by his close friends at Norpac Construction, his buddies from school days in Kensington with whom he recently enjoyed a reunion with in Chicago, plus many more.
The world has lost a vibrant, exciting young man, who was enjoying life, a successful career and was looking forward to living in his recently acquired home in Port Alberni. He is, and will forever be deeply, deeply missed by family and friends.
There will be two Celebrations of his life, the first at the Pavillion at Under the Spire, Indian River on August 9 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
The second Celebration of Dan’s life will be held at the Barclay Best Western, Port Alberni, B.C. on September 27 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Please come and join us in either of these celebrations as we share stories and memories over some light refreshments.
If so desired, donations may be made in his memory to the Riders of Alberni Valley (mountain biking) roav.ca.
