Predeceased by her parents, Fred and Eva Meister and husband, John.
Dorothy is survived by her children Kelly (Rod), Ken (Julie) and Tina (Rob); her six grandchildren, Emily (Mitch), Matthew, Andrea (Natasha), Armerina, Aubry and Matteo and great-granddaughters, Marley and Tommie; nephew Donald (Fiona), niece Jennifer, and great-nephew, Max. Dorothy also leaves behind close friends and extended family from coast to coast.
Dorothy was born and raised in New Ross, Nova Scotia. After meeting John in Halifax, they moved to Port Alberni in 1956 and raised their three children. Dorothy enjoyed working as a book-keeper and a care-aide. As well, for many years she loved working at Grandma’s Trunk and cherished the friendships she made there. Dorothy loved the closeness of family and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a mom and grandma first and also a friend. Dorothy was kind hearted with a great sense of humour and a feisty spirit. She will be dearly missed.
The Ludlow family extends heartfelt gratitude to friends and family. We appreciate the care and attention Dorothy received from Dr. Woodley, the Home Care Nursing Team, Dr. Johnsen, and the hospital staff.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Contributions may be made in her memory to the West Coast General Hospital Foundation to purchase equipment for the Physiotherapy Department online at wcghfoundation.com, or by cheque to West Coast General Hospital Foundation, 3949 Port Alberni Highway, Port Alberni, BC V9Y 4S1.
