Eileen Doreene Tremblay

Eileen was predeceased by her parents George and Lena Ballan; siblings Pete, Don, Ernie, George, Willie, Vic, Sophie and Linda (in infancy). She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Richard; sons Michael and Rick; grandchildren Alexa and Caden; brother Dave; and many nieces and nephews.

Eileen was born and raised in Fort Frances, Ontario. She married Richard in 1962 and welcomed son Michael in 1965 before moving out west to Port Alberni, BC in 1966. Soon after, she and Richard had their second son Rick, to complete their family. Eileen was lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom while her sons were growing up.

Eileen loved nothing more than being a Baba, and spending time with her grandchildren. They have fond memories of sleepovers, going to church with their Baba, and Baba watching them participate in their various activities. They also loved when Baba made her traditional Ukrainian dishes, like perogies and cabbage rolls. They remember her as being always happy.

Eileen was involved in many different groups including the United Church Women’s group and the “Krazy Krafters”. She loved to sing and was a long-time member of the church choir. Eileen loved to entertain, loved to laugh, and was the first to help if someone needed a hand. She was a great listener and a great friend to many. She will be missed terribly by those who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Eileen’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC, Provincial Officer, 300-828 West 8th Ave., Vancouver, BC V5Z 1E2. The family is grateful for the kind and compassionate care Eileen received during her last days at West Coast General Hospital.
