Elaine Squires Parker

Predeceased by daughter Joyce; parents George and Ada Squires; sisters: Phyllis, Jean and her identical twin sister Ada; brothers: Fred, Bruce and Alex, Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Ken Parker ; sons: Tim (Heather), Allan (Colleen), Darrell (Lorie); sisters Heather Lester and Audrey New; grandchildren Kurtis, Tanya, Cady (Darrell), Patrick and Christine (Allan); as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Elaine moved to Trail, BC in her teens; there she met Ken and got married on March 28, 1951. They moved to various locations throughout BC before settling in Port Alberni in 1964. Elaine was very involved and supportive of her children with their variety of sport and school activities throughout the years. She was an enthusiastic volunteer in many different ways and for 25 years did patient visits in the old West Coast Hospital with Charlotte Barlow. For many years she worked as a custodian for school district #70. Elaine was the biggest fan and the main cheerleader for her grandchildren at all their events. She was very committed to her church, her family and her faith.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Arrowsmith Baptist Church, 4283 Glenside Road with Ben Potter officiating.
