November 22, 1945 to October 24 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Wayne Farrell on October 24, 2024 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at Ty Watson House with family by his side.
He was predeceased by his parents George and Rose Lavinia Farrell; sister, Alleen and niece, Jana. He is survived by his loving wife, Marian; stepsons, Michael Doucette (Andrea), Bryan Doucette (Jessica); sister-in-law, Sally Gilham (Scott); sister, Illeen (Jimmy); brother, Lynn (Elaine) and lifelong friend, Julie (Susan). George also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews that will miss him very very much.
George was born in Baton Rouge Louisiana and moved to Texas at a very young age. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for almost 5 years. George returned home and then made his home in Texas until he met Marian in 2004. Marian moved to Texas and they lived there for 13 years before returning for his final years in his beloved Canada, which he was proud to call home.
There will be no service as George requested, and he will be interred on Texada Island alongside his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and George Kilroy whom he loved very much.
Many thanks to the staff, nurses and doctors at Ty Watson House who took such good care of him. George’s family would also like to thank the team from community health services for the excellent care he received at home in his final months.
