Happy New Year Dad, 2021 love you and miss you! 

My deepest sympathy in the recent passing of Gilbert.  
I so remember the years of working together at WCGH...so many laughs...even a few tears...always a good working relationship with everyone.  He and Charlie were so crazy!!!
May all the good memories that Jackie and all the family cherish bring you all comfort and strength is this season

I’ll never forget when Gilbert and Charlie would come around to the different units at WCGH and they’d always have a piece of paper with a joke for us to read. 😂

Gilbert was younger than me but I remember his smile and his laugh It was contagious. May he rest in peace as well as all our dearly departed friends from Delmas, SK.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Gilbert.   Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jackie and family on this huge loss.   His memories, hard work, fun loving and jokes will live on in the hearts of those whom he touched and loved.  May he Rest In Peace.

Gilbert passed away in the early morning hours of Oct 29 at the age of 77. Dad was born in North Battleford Sask on June 5, 1943 to Donat and Eugenie Lessard. He was the youngest of 4 children Cecile, Terry and Marcel.

Dad married his wife Jackie of 56 years on Jan 18, 1964 in Battleford Sask and had their first child, Anna Marie. Gilbert moved his family to Port Alberni in 1966 where they were blessed with 2 more children Tracey and Joe.

Gilbert started working at the Plywoods in 1966 and in 1970 started working at West Coast General Hospital where held many positions They called him the jack-of-all trades. Gilbert was known by his co-workers for always smiling and telling Jokes leaving his coworkers laughing everyday.

After retiring Gilbert and Jackie spent many winters in Wellton, Arizona with family and friends playing bean bag toss and riding his bike around the campground. Happy hour was between 4 and 6 and you could always find Gilbert and his friends laughing and telling jokes. He could make the whole world laugh with him.

We will always remember the party games he loved to play. One of the favorites was the Wizard. We won’t give out the secret because many of us still love to play the Wizard when we have parties. Those fond memories will never be forgotten. No one will forget his bean bag tournaments where everyone wanted to be partnered with the Bean Bag toss champion.

Gilbert loved spending time with his family. We all have fond memories that we will cherish and carry in our hearts forever. Sarah will always hold dearly the memory of papa dressing up as Santa and scaring her when she was little. Morgan will always remember the coin tricks that papa played on him and is still trying to figure them out. Cameron will always treasure the times papa took him and Sarah to the pool to swim. Joe will miss the daily conversations he and his dad would have online. He was always there to help his children and grandchildren.
