He was born in Toronto, grew up in Vancouver and moved to Galiano Island in his early 20’s. There he started a family and became owner/operator of Sturdies Bay service chevron station.
In 1983 he teamed up with his current wife (Nancy) and started his road to recovery. He retired to Parksville in the 90s, built an amazing house and toured around on his motorcycle.
Early in the 21st Century Dave and Nancy moved to Port Alberni where Dave got his dream job working with the crew of the Hawaii Mars water bomber.
Dave was a “force” in the recovery community, helping hundreds find sobriety. He loved his life, his family, his dogs, his job, the Alberni valley and the people in it, the A.U toy run and all his anonymous friends.
Dave was a good friend and neighbor. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially by his wife Nancy, son Scotty, daughters Sara and Shawna and faithful dogs Buddy, Bella and Poppy.
Heartful thanks always to Dr. Puts
