

Jean Paul Dennis Labrecque “Dennis” passed away peacefully in Port Alberni on Thursday, December 4, 2014 with his family by his side. Born in Debden Saskatchewan on June 20, 1933 to Louis and Rose Labrecque. He is predeceased by brothers Henry, Gerard and Phillip.
Dennis is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 33 years, children: Kathy (Ed) Carrier, David (Tracy) and Leanne; step children: Darlene (Dave) Jepson, Sherry (Brian) Warner, Belinda Cook, Treena Cook (Nate Noseworthy); grandchildren: Christopher (Fallon), Jason, Dalyn, Amanda (Frank), Justin (Jill), Rylie, Montrese, Griffyn, Graesyn and Jonah; great grandchildren: Christian, Kingston, Bain and Chase, sisters Rosemarie, Annette, Aliene and Anna as well as mother-in-law Viola Harding and a large extended family.
Dennis worked his whole life at the Pulp Mill. He was very proud of his strawberry rhubarb wine. He also loved gardening and woodworking (making beautiful furniture). He was very competitive when it came to his Christmas lights, trying to better his friends. Other hobbies were playing cards, singing songs around the campfire, coffee with the guys at McDonalds and the Donut shop. He enjoyed playing hockey and baseball in his younger years.
Dennis’ claim to fame was singing “The Icecream song”.
He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather and friends to many.
A Celebration of Dennis’ life will be announced in the New Year. Cremation.
Dennis put up a courageous fight and the family would like to thank Dr. Johnsen, Dr. Grant, Dr Feyi and Dr. O’Dwyer as well as all the Palliative Care nurses who went above and beyond to care for Dennis and his family.
Dennis often said, “If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself!”
