

John Arbanas passed away suddenly in Port Alberni on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the age of 65. Predeceased by his parents, Ivan and Ana, and sister Marija; John is survived by his children Kevin, Katrina, and Krystan; granddaughters Emylee and Ana; brothers George (Patsy), Tom (Marcie), and Rick; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Born in Croatia, John came to Canada in 1967 when he was 15 years old. He graduated from ADSS and shortly after, graduated from Malaspina Welding School. John was dedicated to his career as a welder and was proud 170 member for over 30 years. In 1995, John became one of the owners of the Kingsway Pub, which he owned until July of this year. John as always an avid soccer player as he was growing up and in his adult life. His love of the sport led him to become a soccer coach when he was no longer able to play the sport himself. John loved his family and friends and was always there to help anyone who needed it. He will be missed.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, August 18, 2017, at the Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, 4005 6th Avenue, Port Alberni, BC. A Celebration of John's Life will beheld at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Italian Hall, 4065 6th Avenue, Port Alberni, BC.
