It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of John Alexander Redford (Jack) on October 25, 2025, at the age of 90. Jack was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend
Jack could always be counted on to help anyone in need and usually arrived at least half an hour early. He loved to share stories about growing up in Port Alberni in the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s- tales that brought warmth and laughter to his listeners.
Jack will be remembered for his love of driving- even before he had a license, and summers at “The Lake.” His stories of early days spent there at “the cabin” with his parents and brother -captured his deep connection to family and the place he called home.
Jack’s love of driving and “The Lake” eventually led him to racing hydro planes on Sproat Lake as well as lakes around BC. He was so proud of his race boat, (Raven Mad) much to his mother’s chagrin. He later drove logging trucks, speed boats, Cadillacs and his Toyota Tundra.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, John and Helen Redford, brother James Redford, sons Bill and Robb Jeffery and his beloved wife Marjorie Redford.
He is survived by sons Douglas Redford, Michael (June) Redford, Douglas Jeffery (Ruth) and his daughter, Lauraleah Jeffery, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A life well lived, and a man deeply loved, Jack will be missed beyond measure.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at The Barclay Hotel Ballroom from 1pm-4pm.
where family and friends gathered and shared memories of Jack.
