He is predeceased by his parents, John and Theresa. John is survived by his love Louisa, his daughter Rachelle (Ryan), granddaughters Kayleigh and Makenna, his son Tyler (Holly), stepdaughters Sabrina (Mike), Megan (Billy), Jess (Mike), grandchildren Audrey, Ethan, Owen, Clara, Rosa, Teigan, and Logyn, his sisters Anne (Rick), Vicki (Marty), and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was born in St. John, New Brunswick. He moved to Port Alberni at the age of 3. From an early age he had an avid love of the outdoors and mechanics. After school, he went on to apprentice at Auto Marine Electrical, and opened Top Dog Automotive in 1985. Known as an electrical genius, John had a reputation for being “able to fix anything”. He loved hunting, quadding, camping, and was a dedicated family man. Even after long hours of working on logging equipment and rewiring trucks, he always found time to take his kids for a bike ride, help a neighbor with a headlight, or have a beer with a friend.
John will be remembered for his amazing abilities in the automotive industry, his dedication to his work and his family, his contagious laugh, and his tough-as-nails attitude no matter what he was faced with.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.chapelofmemories.ca
*John’s family wishes to especially thank all the doctors and nurses that cared for him during the last months with such compassion and comfort*
