Kathleen Ruth Congdon

With broken hearts, we share with you the sudden passing of Kathleen Ruth Congdon (Dougan) of Ucluelet, BC, on April 11, 2026. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Harold and Ada Dougan and sister, Ellen. Kathleen is survived by her cherished family, loving husband of 47 years, Brian; sisters, Patricia (David) Taron and Dixie Dougan. The light of her life, three children, Thomas (Tara) Congdon, Jennifer (Mike) Rhodes, Kristi (Mark) Udell and all of her beautiful and talented grandchildren, Nicole, Owen, Ziven, Brianna, Olivia, Tyson, Wyatt, Tucker, Percy, Sebastian, Alexa, Angie, Jaxson, Marlee, and Noah.

Born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Kathleen spent time in Banff and Calgary before making Ucluelet her home in 1976 when she moved to join family.

Kathleen always lived her life to the fullest saying you’re only as old as you think you are and she definitely thought she was “29 and holding”. She’d love to bake for every holiday, making sure everyone had their favorite. We promise to carry on her secret recipes. When not serving ice cream or coffee at The Gray Whale you’d find Kathleen happy in her sunny garden or on the sidelines cheering on her grandchildren. Kathleen worked hard her entire life to give every possible opportunity to her children and grandchildren. For that, we are forever grateful.

With so much life left to live and grandchildren to enjoy, Kathleen has left us way too soon. We will miss her beautiful smile, warm hugs, and I love you’s. ❤️
