To Mr Prpich, Allan, Johnny, Cathy and families,

It is with tears in my eyes and an ache in my heart that I write this note.
We all have memories of special people from our childhood and Mrs. 'P' was one of mine.
One time an adult in the neighbourhood pushed Johnny near the elementary school.  After we informed Mrs 'P', she headed out to speak to this person. She looked like the Pied Piper walking down the street with half the neighbourhood kids following behind her.  We were all going to help her 'settle the score' because someone was mean to 'our Johnny'.  Of course the next day we were probably all fighting again.  That's just how it was.

Years later, after I got my first good-paying job at five dollar an hour, Mrs 'P' had a new name for me - 'Money Bags'.  Whenever she came over to the house, she would say 'Well there's old Money Bags'.  I don't really every remember her calling me Kelly after that.

When Indian sweaters were popular, I wanted to learn how to knit one.  Right away, Mrs 'P' offered to teach me.  I had decided to make a bomber-style jacket for my sister, Tina,, for her birthday.  We worked on it for quite some time and she was very patient and made the learning fun.  When it was finished and we pieced it together, Allan was there.  I tried it on, and the sleeves were half way up my arms (Tina was taller than me).  Allan nearly doubled over with laughter.  I didn't think it was very funny, and neither did Mrs. 'P'.  We proceeded to wet it and stretch it, until it fit.

She was always there making peoples' lives special.  Even during her final days, she had the ability to light up a room, fill it with laughter and make everyone feel at ease.

Her gifts to all who knew her will never fade.

Our sincere sympathy to you all.  We hope the memories of your mom will keep you going through these difficult times.  We will always remember her generous, caring nature and how she always made us feel welcome in her home.  She had many talents but we will never forget those wonderful cabbage rolls and the beautiful sweaters and hats that she knitted not just for our kids, but we are sure for many children over the years. Please know our thoughts are with you.

My thoughts are with the Prpich family at this sad and difficult time.    I have many good memories of growing up in the neighbourhood with your family.  When your mom found out that I liked her cinnamon buns, she sent over a batch to mom's house for the longest time.  They were THE BEST.  Emily still has the baby blanket, sweater, and booties that your mom knit for her 22 years ago; waiting to pass them on to the next generation.  Your mom was generous and had a great sense of humour.  Mrs. P. was one of a kind and I will miss her.

To Cathy and your family, so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mother. She was a wonderful person. Thinking of you all at this most difficult time.  Patsy Arbanas
