

Matthew was born in Port Alberni and attended Alberni Indian Residential School. He later moved to Nanaimo where he attended high school and spent most of his life. In 2018 Matthew moved to Hitacu, where he made his home and formed many close connections with family and friends in the community. Throughout most of his adult life, Matthew worked in construction. In recent years, while living in Hitacu he spent much of his time working as a flagger. Matthew will be remembered for his friendly nature and the smile he often carried. Many people spoke about how kind and welcoming he was and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the community.
Predeceased by his Parents Edith Brown (Touchie) and Matthew Brown, Siblings Elizabeth McEwan, Jeff Touchie, Eddie Touchie.
Survived by Siblings John Touchie, Lionel Brown, Michael Touchie, Rosalee Brown. Children Lee Touchie, Asya Touchie, Matthew Touchie, Brian Touchie, Matthew Bulwer, Wonda Touchie. Grandchildren Shakaya Mack, Thearon Mack, Octavia Touchie (Matthew Touchie JR) Jaiden Touchie (Wanda Touchie), Edith Touchie, Thomas Touchie (Asya Touchie) Shauntia Pegahmagabow (Brian Touchie)
A Funeral Service will be held at Cixʷatin Centre on Thursday March 12th at 11 am.
