March 24, 1943 - July 9, 2022
Died at the age of 79
He was predeceased by his father Duilio and mother Rosa.
Miro is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Yvonne; daughters Rachel, Rolanda (Robert), and Noreen (Tim); sister Maria (Guiseppi); brother Moreno (Teresa); in-laws Rocky and Patti, Marcel and Barb; grandchildren Kayla, Alyssa, Jesse, Ariel, and Amelia; great grandson Noah; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Miro was born in Valdagno, Italy. His father Duilio came to Canada a year before bringing his family to Port Alberni in 1956. Miro was 14 years old at this time. In his younger years, Miro loved racing motorcycles. He built a racer that his good friend Andy raced in West Wood, Vancouver. This bike won first place and beat the factory racers. Miro and Yvonne rode together. His love for motorcycles continued over the years. He was employed at Somass Sawmill and worked as a planer mechanic until his retirement at the age of 55. Miro enjoyed the outdoors -- hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He was a member of the Sportsman Club and enjoyed shotgun sports (particularly clay shooting) with his friends.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your choice of organization and have a glass of wine in his memory.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday July 23rd, 11:00 am at the Holy Family Notre Dame Roman Catholic Parish, followed by a tea service for all friends and family.
Miro will be laid to rest with an interment ceremony, to be attended by family members, that will take place immediately following the funeral mass, held at St. Peter's Cemetery.
We would like to thank all the rescue personnel, Dr. DeWitt who cared for Miro, and all his family and friends for their support.
