Nick was born in Port Alberni on May 14, 2005, to Nancy Antoine and Sagittarius McCandless. He was a proud member of the Saik’uz First Nation, with ancestral ties to the Ahousaht and Ditidaht Nations.
He attended Maquinna Elementary School and Eighth Avenue learning Center where he was known for his kind, helpful, and good-hearted nature. From a young age, Nick showed dedication and discipline as a member of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps, serving from age nine through to his graduation.
Nick became a big brother in 2019 and embraced this role with love, guidance, and pride — a caring role model whom his brother deeply admired.
A graduate of 2023, Nick earned a scholarship and bursaries that reflected his talent, determination, and bright future. His friends describe him as a compassionate soul who brought light to others in dark times. Known for his strong character, Nick resisted peer pressure and often volunteered as a designated driver to keep his friends safe.
Nick was also a gifted musician, following his dream of a career in music. His skill as a bass player earned him a place in the band “Dead Ahead”, where his creativity and spirit shone brightly.
Nick’s presence and love will be most deeply missed by his mother Nancy Antoine, stepfather Jordan Amos, and brother Jasper Amos. His memory will live forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life for Nick will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:16 PM at Yates Memorial Services, 4470 Gertrude Street, Port Alberni, BC V9Y6J8.
