We have some peace in Dad’s passing in knowing that he is going to reunite with Mom, his wife and love Shirley of 70 years. A huge void was left with Dad the minute she left our world on April 9, 2024.
Dad was the best father. When we were younger, he would put in a full day’s work outside of the home and then give the rest of his day to us children. He would play all types of games, read bedtime stories and make sure we all got a horsey back ride to our beds. As we grew, Dad accepted our spouses as his own and was the greatest Grampa/Great Grampa any child could hope for. To his end, cards was a huge staple in our lives. It always brought his families back to our home to play somewhat competitive but always fun games of cards. He and Mom wined and dined us, making for such fun times.
Dad built his own house in 1957 with a hand saw, shovel, hammer and nails. No such thing as electric tools in those days. That house, which is our family home today, was filled with 4 children, Danny, Debbie, Connie and Sherie. Many celebrations and fun times were held. A house that we always call home, and everyone felt welcome.
Dad owned and operated a successful business, Circle Dairy. He purchased it in his late teens and ran it until he retired at 57 years old. Mom and Dad then purchased a Class A motorhome. They enjoyed many travels in their beautiful home on wheels. They would let us kids use it to camp and build memories with our families. How much fun we all had in that unit.
Although Dad was retired, he never stopped with his incredible work ethic. He woke up each day ready to get to work. Most of that work involved helping his four children with home renovations, additional structures and whatever needed doing on or at our homes. We had many, many projects on the go, which kept our poor father busy. But he loved that. He was not one to sit around. We all reaped the benefits of his years of knowledge and experience.
Dad loved going in the bush to get firewood, bringing it home, splitting and stacking it. The home fires were always burning.
Dad is predeceased by his wife Shirley and Great Grandson Baby Bennett. He was the youngest of 7 children. He was predeceased by his mother known to us all as Nan (Emeranda), his father John, and brothers Henry, George and Jim. He is survived by his 3 sisters Liz, Irene and Lil.
As well, Dad is survived by his son Dan (Tracy), Deb (Ian), Connie (Tom) and Sherie (Andy), Grandchildren Kristie (Geoff), Melissa, Steven (Shasta), Brittany (Patrick), Curtis (Jaimee), Crystal, Brandon, Ryan (Megan) and Ashley (Gilbert), step grandchildren Sydney (Nicholas), Colby (Kyah) and 14 Great Grand Children.
Dad lived his life to make ours great.
Rest your beautiful soul now Dad. WE ALL LOVE YOU AND WILL MISS YOU FOREVER AND ALWAYS.
We want to give a big Thank You to Jill. Without you, we would be lost. You loved our dad, took such great care of him and guided us with your expertise. We cherish you and consider you family. Thank you, Sylvia and Corrie for being there with Dad helping him get through those long, lonely weekday evenings, keeping him occupied with cards.
Thank you to Dr. Puts and his assistant Dana for all you did. He was so well taken care of. To the two Jenn’s at Westhaven and your team. Thank You for all the support and kindness, and for knowing Dad as Paul, not just another patient. We hope you know how much that means to us.
There will be no service as per request.
