Raffaela Calabrese

Mom immigrated to Canada in 1954 from Barile, Italy. Mom and Dad settled in Port Alberni and raised their family. They were involved in starting up the Italian Canadian Society, where they enjoyed many dinners and dances, picnics and wine making in the fall. Mom and dad enjoyed a bit of travelling over the years, returning to Hawaii year after year, their favourite place, until Dad’s passing in 2006.

Mom spent the last 5 years living at Abbeyfield, where she enjoyed socializing, playing Bingo and other activities.

She leaves behind her children Carmela (Ed), Maria (Brian), Marcello (Vicki). Grandchildren Karine, Kristina, Elizabeth, Stephanie, Michael, Ryan, (who when young all loved Nonna’s Soup) Kristen, Marisa, Ali, their partners, and also 12 beautiful great grandchildren.

A big thank you to the nurses at West Coast General Hospital who looked after Mom with kindness, compassion and dignity.

Rest in peace with Dad. Always remembered, never forgotten.
