Ralph Carlton Hedley

He is predeceased by his parents Ralph and Tena Hedley and two sisters Lavina Bartch and Lauris Weightman. Ralph is survived by his beloved wife Donna, his 3 sons Shane (Tanya), Darryl and Vaughn (Jamie), grandchildren: Colton, Vance, Mason and Taylor, his sisters Norma Gouldon (Jim) and Carole Baird (Stan), brother Robert, brother-in-law Gene Weightman and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Ralph moved to Port Alberni in 1966 where he met and married Donna and raised his family. He started work at Woodward’s, but soon after gained employment at the Pulp & Paper Mill where he remained until his retirement in 2004. Ralph’s favorite pastime was curling and he played regularly. “A bad day curling was better than a good day at almost anything else.” He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 293 and a lover of classic cars, himself owning a ’49 Mercury pickup that he restored with his boys.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 6:00pm on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, 4005 6th Avenue. A Celebration of Ralph’s life will take place at 1:00pm on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Curling Club, 3250 9th Avenue. Cremation to take place.
