With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Robyn Cross on July 13th, 2025.
Robyn grew up in Port Alberni, with her parents, Rick and Cathy, and her big sister, Melissa. She graduated Alberni District Secondary in 2002 and went on to study Creative Writing and Theatre at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo. Robyn was a lover of theatre, a talented writer, a huge reader, and a talented crochet artist.
More importantly, Robyn was the kind of friend everyone wanted- compassionate, understanding, funny and a good listener. Robyn had a huge heart and supported many charitable causes, especially through the Great International Scavenger Hunt she participated in for many years, where she did silly things to raise money for different people in need globally. She had a passion for social justice, and never hesitated to stand up and advocate for what she believed in. In her downtime, Robyn enjoyed building Lego sets with her Dad, crocheting fun gifts for people she loved, hanging out with her sister Melissa, and playing with her dog Linc.
Robyn is predeceased by her mother, Cathy Cross, but she is survived by her father, Rick Cross, sister Melissa, nephew Brennen, Linc the Dog, and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as being remembered by friends all over the world.
Robyn will be missed, but we can take comfort in remembering her life with this quote from her favourite author, Terry Pratchett:
“For I can see the balance and you have left the world much better than you found it, and if you ask me,” Said Death, “Nobody could do any better than that.”- Terry Pratchett, The Shepherd’s Crown.
