Ruth Muriel Bailey Keil

February 19, 1934 – May 13, 2017

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Ruth Keil in Brooks, Alberta.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Walter and their infant daughter Debra. Ruth is survived by children Glenda Godard (Tom Bedford), Dale (June) Keil, and Lynette (Rick) Weightman; grandchildren Shawn (Melissa) Zarantonello, Jamie (Michelle) Zarantonello, Brook (Ashley) Weightman, and Noel (Sabrina) Weightman; great grandchildren Chelsea, Brayden, Britnee, Tianna, Saydee, Mya, Norah, and Jaxon; brothers Jack (Dawn) Bailey and Vester (Carol) Bailey; brother-in-law Vernon (Fern) Keil, sister-in-law Erna Keil as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was born in Kelowna, BC to John (Jack) and Myrtle Bailey and was raised on the family farm in Roblin, Manitoba. Mom married dad on October 27, 1951 in Manitoba and settled in Port Alberni a few short years later. She and dad worked very hard to make the best life for our family. She worked at BC Tel and Woodwards and then became a realtor for the remainder of her working career along with managing their mobile home park. Her greatest treasure was spending time with her family and showing us all how important we were to her. She will be deeply missed but we won’t cry because it’s over, we’ll smile because it happened.

She will be laid to rest beside Walter at 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Alberni Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.chapelofmemories.ca
