He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Verna in March 2024 and his son Colby in July 2025.
Terry was born and raised in Port Alberni to parents Tom and Richmond. He married his high school sweetheart in 1963. Together they had two children. Leah in 1964 and Colby in 1965. He worked at the Pulp & Paper Mill for over 40 years. His hobby/obsession of gardening grew into a fantastic front yard full of roses (over 350 varieties) which he cared for every day with his bottle of Guinness or glass of wine. He was also seen by neighbors talking to each one of them. He later opened a nursery in the backyard called “Rhodomania”. He was always researching and passing on his knowledge of all the different species of Rhododendrons and how to care for them. He was known to many as the “The Rhodo Man”. Dad also loved to cast a line into any stream or off the dock of his parents Sproat Lake home. He was also an avid hunter, and we grew up with many memorable camping/hunting trips. Terry also taught the gun safety course in town for years.
Dad will be lovingly remembered by his Daughter Leah Denis (Rick). Daughter-in-law Kay. Grandchildren Joshua (Hayley, Jessica Denis, Nathaniel and Emersyn Richmond. Sister Heather Wilson (Ken).
A special Thank you to all the home support workers, all the ER and ICU nurses and all the wonderful caring people at Ty Watson House. Your love and compassion meant a lot to me. Thank you to Dr. Van Zyle and Dr. Woodly, God bless you all.
At Dad’s request there will be no service. Cremation has already taken place and internment to be laid with mom will be at a later date.
