He grew up in Wilbraham, Massachusetts and graduated from Minnechaug High School.
He lived up until 1983 in Western Massachusetts then moved to Southwest Florida until 2007 then halfway back to Tennessee where he could retire enjoying the seasons, the mountains and lakes yet live a drive from his children and grandchildren both in Florida and in Western MA.
Art was a building contractor by trade enjoyed creating beautiful things. He was a woodworker, painter and had a natural eye for photography. Some of his favorite subjects were nature and unique handcrafted antique doors he discovered with his wife on their many travels throughout the US, Canada, Europe and Mexico.
He was a patient teacher with all of his children. Telling us that some of our work was off by just a “skosh” and directing us to head back to the saw and make our cuts again. He taught his Son, Bryan all about construction and his daughter Christine about painting and the many other skills she uses every day in her own business.
Art had many lifelong friends. He enjoyed watching sports and the occasional cigar with a glass of bourbon by the fire. He also enjoyed telling long drawn-out jokes that made everyone laugh even if we’d heard them before.
As a high school student, Art took up the hobby of Ham radio operating and that is how he met his beloved wife of 49 years, Mary A Menard.
