Barbara Jean (Casey) Roussell, born on January 21, 1934, fell asleep in death on January 20, 2017, after an illness that she battled courageously. Barbara was the loving wife of Gary C. Roussell, who preceded her in death on March 3, 2011. She is survived by her dear son, Raymont J. Calloway, East Orange, New Jersey. Before relocating to Port Charlotte, Florida, Barbara was a resident of East Orange, New Jersey; and she retired from the Public Service Electric and Gas Company located in Kearny, NJ, after many years of public service.
Barbara was the daughter of Joseph and Alpha Casey, of Eneree, South Carolina; and she enjoyed reflecting on the fond memories of growing up with her parents and older siblings: Henry, Charles, Paul, James, Joseph, Lewis, A.C., Henrietta, Elizabeth, and Jannie. Barbara was the youngest sibling, and the last living survivor of the dynamic and amazing Joseph and Alpha Casey family.
The Casey family legacy will continue to live on through the lines of a host of nieces and nephews and their children, including Elaine Casey Davis of Atlanta, GA., Dr. Sandra Casey Buford, Cape Cod, MA, DeMorsco Casey, Philadelphia, PA, James Casey, Jr., Pittsburgh, PA, Sharon Casey-Pope, Pittsburgh, PA, Constance Robinson, San Diego, CA, and Robert Casey (Lillian Casey), Slidell, LA.
Great nieces and nephews and their families include Leisha Mack, Esq., Los Angeles, CA, Lauren Mack, New York, NY, Erroll, Christopher, Whitney, and Alexus Davis, Buckhead, GA, Erik, Tannise, Sydni, Austin, and Justin Buford, Pocasset, MA, Dayna, Joe, Baruch, Benjamin, Bailey and Briley Candeloro, Bourne, MA, and Sasha, Sean, and Logan DeMatos, Falmouth, MA and Nathan and Philip Broadus, Pittsburgh, PA.
Loving extended family members include Gary C. Roussell's sons Keith, Carl, and Gary (Nikey) Roussell, New Jersey; and brother and sister-in-laws Lillian Casey, Slidell, LA, Ann Casey, Philadelphia, PA, Dale Roussell, Los Angeles, CA, Bryan Roussell, Savannah, GA, Colon Roussell, Berkeley, CA, Leland, Bruce, and Muriel Roussell, New Orleans, LA, and Brenda Roussell, Bossier, LA.
As residents of Port Charlotte, Florida, Barbara and Gary loved and enjoyed, to the full, the beautiful features of their city and surrounding communities. Barbara had a tremendous zest for life and everything beautiful, including her precious poolside orchids, the beautiful Port Charlotte waterways and the ocean, good food, great music, and films. Barbara was a gracious "lady" who carried herself with dignity, and dressed sharp for every occasion. She was tall, stately, and poised at all times. Barbara maintained a very calm spirit, and she was an avid reader of God's word, the Bible. Barbara's favorite scriptures included Acts 24:15, Revelation 21:4, and John 11:25. On behalf of the entire host of family and friends, "We will miss your beautiful presence, Barbara Jean (Casey) Roussell; and in the meantime, you are in God's memory."
"See You in Paradise!"
