Betty Marie Griffin

Betty was born to Bruce and Leona Cottrell in Lima, Ohio on October 3rd, 1935 and moved to Charlotte Harbor, Florida in 1969 where she spent the rest of her life. Betty was trained as a dietary manager and used that training at Charlotte Regional Medical Center ( now Bayfront Health Punta, Gorda ) where she worked until retirement. Betty’s co-workers and managers alike loved and respected her as a hard worker and compassionate supervisor.

Betty was a loving, selfless, and patient mother to her four children: Robert Brown (Cindy) of Port Charlotte, FL, Warren Brown (deceased) (Connie Allen) of Jacksonville, FL, Anthony Griffin ( Joyce ) of Sterling Heights, MI, and Lynette Watts (Garfield ) of Wichita Falls, TX. Betty has five grandchildren: Kori Massey (deceased), Melissa Moring, Christina Jones, Amanda Overcashier, and Jennifer Brown. She will also be missed by seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, along with many nieces, nephews, and their extended families.

Due to the current health crisis, a private, immediate family only graveside service will be held followed by a memorial service this coming spring/summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Betty Griffin’s name to the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation or charity of your choice.
