Charles Frederick Vaughn

On March 25, 2025, Charles Frederick Vaughn was called home to our Lord. He was born March 8, 1947, in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Charles was the son of Ira B. (Jim) & Thelma S. Vaughn. He was raised in Avon Lake, Ohio.

Charles graduated from Avon Lake high school and attended Lorain community college. He married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Swanson Vaughn. They had two children, Charles R and Vicki L. Charles and family moved to Port Charlotte, Florida in 1977.

Charles was a mechanic and a licensed water & wastewater operator. He owned and operated his business for many years. In his youth, he was a champion horseman, winning trophies and ribbons. He studied karate for over 11 years and became a 3rd degree black belt in “A-Kido”. He was also a karate instructor. Charles excelled in his hobby S.A.S.S. Charlie Concho was his S.A.S.S - handle. Charles enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren to respect and love the sport.

Charles is survived by his wife: Nancy A Vaughn of 58 years, his son: Charles R Vaughn and his wife: Tammy, and their children Kenny, Kayley, Cassidy and her husband: CJ “Chris” Maler. Daughter: Vicki L Donza and her husband: Scott, and their children Sera and Vivian. Sister: Lora Marriotti, sister-in-law/brother-in-law: Sandra and Darrell Phillips.

A service will be held at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL, 33952 on Saturday, April 5, at 12PM. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Forrest Nelson Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33952 at 1PM.
