Constance J. Gibbs passed away on February 24, in her 2026 home. She was born on December 5, 1930, in Newburyport, MA to Percy and Esther Jewett.
Connie graduated from Fisher College in Boston, MA with a Secretarial degree. It is while working as an executive secretary that she met her life-partner, her late husband of 65 years, Herb Gibbs. Together they relished a life full of joy and adventures. They raised four daughters, lived in ten states, and traveled to six countries.
She had a keen interest in finance; she ran her own small business, selling make-up, and chaired several neighborhood investment clubs throughout the 70's and 80's. She was a proud member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), a Sunday School Teacher and a Girl Scout troop leader.
She was an engaging listener. She stayed informed about current life happenings so she could provide insight, compassion, experience, and humor! She was a trusted advisor to all who met her!! Her greatest legacy was the impression she made on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was one-of-a-kind and an inspiration to all of us. Her final message to us was one of optimism, strength, kindness, forgiveness, thankfulness, and happiness. Her spirit and influence will live on forever in each of us! Closing most conversations, reminding us to "love each other!".
Her number one priority was always her family! Everything she did was in support of her family!! We were lucky to call her "mom"!
Connie is survived by her daughters, Cori Rothenbach (Nick Rotherbach) of Cincinnati OH, Kathy Magee (Mike Collins) of Port Charlotte, FL, Carol Gibbs-Terrell (Matt Terrell) of Tonka Bay, MN, Jackie Gibbs (Scott Jackson) of Port Charlotte, FL; also 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. Connie is also survived by her sister, Barbara Cleary, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and cousins-in-law.
There will be a memorial at a later date.
