Donald Jack Armstrong, 89, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away November 5, 2009. He was born April 28, 1920 in Detroit, MI and lived in Northville, MI and Dearborn, MI. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He retired from General Motors Diesel Division after 36 years of service. His retirement years were spent in Florida realizing his boating ambition to travel the US and Canada in his own yacht, which he did for ten years. Don was a former member of the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Berwyn Armstrong; daughter, Judith Donald Esper; sons, Donald Mary Armstrong and Richard Carol Armstrong; six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am till 11:00 am, Tuesday, Nov 10, 2009 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34238.
