Eric F. Rolston, a remarkable man known for his loving nature, intelligence, and undeniable courage, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2024, in Florida, at the age of 73. Born on June 8, 1950, in New York, Eric's life was a tapestry of dedication to his family, service to his country, and commitment to his community.
Eric was a proud veteran who served in the Vietnam War as a member of the US Coast Guard. His bravery and service continued long after his military days, as he remained an active member of the American Legion Post 103 and the Elk Lodge of Punta Gorda. These associations were not only a testament to his dedication but also a source of camaraderie and lifelong friendships.
Following his distinguished service, Eric built a fulfilling career with the Long Island Railroad, where he devoted 30 years. His work ethic and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on his colleagues and contributed to the many milestones achieved by the organization during his tenure.
Eric was a man of many passions. He found joy in scuba diving, exploring the depths of the ocean with the same vigor he approached all aspects of his life. Golfing and fishing were also among his favorite pursuits, providing him with countless hours of relaxation and reflection. His love for his dog, Bella, was evident to all who knew him, as was his enthusiasm for boating, a hobby that allowed him to embrace the serenity of the sea.
One of Eric's greatest joys was watching his grandson, Dominic, play baseball. He was an ever-present figure at games, cheering with pride and offering words of encouragement. His granddaughter, Julianna, also held a special place in his heart, as he celebrated each of her milestones with the same warmth and enthusiasm he brought to every family occasion.
Eric leaves behind a loving family, including his daughters, Keri Ann Rolston and Carol Sivon; his grandchildren, Julianna and Dominic; brothers, Robert Rolston and Michael Rolston; and his cherished companion, Daleen Hendrickson. He was a beloved figure to many nieces, nephews, friends, and fellow veteran buddies, all of whom will miss him deeply. Eric was preceded in death by his wife, Christina Rolston, whom he was married to for 44 loving years, his mother, Bernice Rolston, his father, Eric Rolston, and his sister, Lorraine Wilson.
As we bid farewell to Eric F. Rolston, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the lives he touched. Eric's journey may have reached its peaceful conclusion, but the impact of his life will be felt for generations to come.
A celebration of Eric’s life will take place at Kays, Ponger and Uselton funeral home, 2405 Harbor Blvd. Port Charlotte, FL 33952 on Saturday, April 13 from 11 am until the time of the service at 3 pm.
