George Edward Ross, 91 of Port Charlotte, FL died Saturday, April 25, 2009. He was born October 22, 1917 in Punxsutawney, PA. to George A. and Ann Petrik Ross. George served in the U.S. Army and has lived in the Port Charlotte area since 1983 after retiring as a postal carrier. He was known as "The whistling mailman."
He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth, sons George and Lawrence, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his son, William and parents George A. and Ann Ross.
Visitation will be held at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM.
