

Herbert Warren Vermillion of Cape Coral, Florida passed away on January 26, 2019. Born in Columbus, Ohio on April 12, 1922 to the late Charles and Frieda Vermillion. Preceded in death by wife – Martha, brothers – John, Charles, Bob and Gene, sister – Norma.
Herb graduated from North High School in Columbus, Ohio and shortly after enlisted in the US Navy during WWII. There he was trained to be a fighter pilot and was stationed on the aircraft carrier USS WASP CV-18 in the Pacific Theater of Operations. The USS Wasp was commissioned November 1943, where he bravely flew the F6F Hellcat. After the war ended, he met and married his loving devoted wife Martha Ann Williams and would have been married 71 years in February 2019. Herbert worked at Lennox Industries in Columbus, Ohio for a 40-year career as an Engineer.
Survived by two sons, Michael (Mickey) David Vermillion (Wife - Kelly) of Cape Coral, FL and Jeffrey Alan Vermillion of St. Petersburg, FL, three grandsons, Jesse of Los Angeles, CA, Brandon of Sarasota, FL, and Cameron of St. Petersburg, FL, one granddaughter, Devon Nuno (Phil) and 3 granddaughters, Halle, Siana, and Stella of Hellertown, PA as well as numerous loving and caring nieces and nephews and close family friends Donna Speakman, Patty Heid, and John and Sonya Leonard.
Herb will be sadly missed by his family and friends and was described as “the nicest man I have ever met” by all who met him. Herbert’s ashes will be interred next to his loving wife Martha at Kingwood Memorial Park in Lewis Center, Ohio at a date to be determined.
