Hillard Lavere Bowling

Hillard L. Bowling Sr, 83, of Venice, FL passed away December 31, 2009. He was born November 7, 1926 in Dania, FL to Elder and Elizabeth Bowling. Mr. Bowling served in the US Air Force and moved to Punta Gorda in 1971 from Stuart, FL. He worked as a Farmer & Rancher as the owner of H.L Bowling & Sons in Ft Ogden till his retirement in 2000. He was a former member of the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club, Punta Gorda Isles Yacht Club, the Burnt Store Isles Tennis Club and the Seminole Lakes Tennis Club. He was a 5K Runner, was a member of the Banjo and Fiddles Clogging Team and enjoyed ballroom dancing. Mr. Bowling had served on the Board of the Peace River Water Management. He was a world traveler and truly loved life.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, June Bowling of Venice, FL; son, H.L. Barbara Bowling, Jr of Punta Gorda, FL; daughter, Sheryl Rick Johnson of Palmetto, FL; grandchildren, Brady Kelley, Jesse Danika, Jacob Brooke, Rebecca, Jeffrey and Tyler; great grandchildren, Joshua, Jeffrey and Fallon; a sister, Joan Billings of West Palm Beach, FL. He was pre deceased by his son, Jon Clay Bowling in 1998.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL.In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to your favorite charity.
