
James Archie Lamphere, 76 of Rotonda West, FL, formerly of South Burlington, VT passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 18, 2011 after a short illness.
Jim was born in Calais, VT, the son of Richard and Elizabeth Sparrow Lamphere.
Before retiring to Florida in 1999, he was a partner at Wiemann-Lamphere Architects, Inc. in Burlington, VT. He was involved in many civic organizations including Englewood FISH, Rotonda Neighborhood Watch, Kiwanis and South Burlington Rebel Boosters. He was President of the Vermont Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, Charter Member of the Construction Specification Institute, VT Chapter, Chairman of the South Burlington Planning Commission, and Board Member of the Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation.
Jim had many passions in life including hunting, fishing, skiing and especially golf.
Jim joins his beloved wife Lois who predeceased him in August of 2011. He was also predeceased by his brothers Robert Lamphere and Richard Lamphere. He leaves behind his loving sister Ann (Tim) Wheelock of Calais, VT, brother in law, Robert (Barbara) Poirier of Jericho, VT, daughters Pam (Bob Reuschel) Lamphere and Kelly (Glenn Conchieri) LaPan and son Scott Lamphere, all of South Burlington, VT. He was most proud of his grandchildren SSG Matthew (Shea) Kehaya of Swanton, VT, Jay Mahl and Chris Mahl of South Burlington, VT, Evan Cummings of Boston, MA and Cori LaPan of South Burlington, VT. He also leaves behind several cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends he thought of as family in Florida and Vermont. There will be no calling hours.
