
Joseph Marrapodi, 80, of Port Charlotte, Florida died on Thursday November 29, 2007. Mr. Marrapodi was born in Manhattan, New York on February 19, 1927 to Alfred and Dorothy Guthrie Marrapodi. He was owner and operator of Joes 516 auto center gas and repair shop in Old Bridge, New Jersey for 17 years.
Mr. Marrapodi was a member of the Parish Council at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in New Jersey as well as at St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church, He received the highest honors of 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S.Army and a member of the V.F.W.
Mr. Marrapodi loved the opera, collecting rare coins/money and stamps, gardening, golf, bowling, masonry, carpentry. He loved soduko, word puzzles, reading and his children
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret Marrapodi; his sons, Gregg, Richard, Christopher, Keith; his daughter, Cynthia LeRoy; his 13 grandchildren, Pamela, David, Dan, Bill, Joseph, Melissa, Christopher, Leah, Richard, Michael, Olivia, Julia and Amelia; his 2 great grandchildren Otis and Zora. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday December 3, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church, 1411 Spear St., Port Charlotte with Father Robert Mattingly, Celebrant, with military honors to follow.
Visitation will be held on Sunday December 2, 2007 at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel, 2405 Harbor Blvd., from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a wake service at 7:00 PM
